Who is behind BundlesforGood.com?
My name is John Bardos. This is one of my projects designed to give back. I’ve have blogged at JetSetCitizen for many years. I’ve written extensively about minimalism, travel, location independence, social good and other related topics on my way to finding more meaning and purpose with my life. BundlesforGood.com is my latest venture to contribute more to the world.
How much have you raised for charity?
Thanks to all the contributors and purchasers of the Bundles for Good, we raised $20,780 in 2017. This is only the beginning. We have a long way to go to meet my $1 million goal.
Why do you give profits to charity?
It’s very important for me to maximize my impact in the world. I believe all businesses and individuals have a responsibility to do good in the world. Committing to give a big percentage to charity is a way to support worthy causes AND give great deals on valuable online resources.
Why do you give 25%?
In similar projects, a common range for donations is 5% to 10%. I feel that is low. 25% will make a bigger impact on the organizations we contribute to.
At the same time, this business needs to invest and grow in order to maximize its social impact. Giving away too much of the profits will jeopardize the long-term viability. 25% is a large percentage that still leaves profits to hire staff and reinvest. Over time, this will help Bundles For Good maximize the total contribution.
What charity are you supporting this time?
For the July 2017 Better You Bundle for Good, we supported Courageous Kitchen, a bootstrapped charity helping refugees in Thailand. As little as $100 per month can get a family off the streets in Thailand. Courageous Kitchen founder, Dwight Turner is featured in this short video below.
Urban Refugee: Bangkok was filmed and directed by Tara Milutis of Milutis Films.
